BILLY RAY DAVIS

Billy Ray Davis passed away on March 6, 2014 at his home with his loving family around him, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 57. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Sat. March 15 at St Canice Church in Nevada City, Calif. He was born December 28, 1956 at Rapid City, S.D. to Raymond L and Jean (Branough) Davis. He was raised and schooled at Belle Fourche, S.D. graduating high school with the class of 1975. While in high school he worked at the Tri State Bakery and after graduation at the American Colloid at Colony, Wyo. until moving to Calif. in 1979, driving the old pick up he worked on in mechanics class. He worked at Robinson Timber for 17 yrs and County of Nevada Department of Transportation, for 16 years. He married Annette Conner Oct. 10, 1981 at St Canice Church in Nevada City. They enjoyed traveling, camping, wine tasting and life! Billy thoroughly enjoyed teasing and practical jokes with his family, grandkids and friends. Billy is survived by his wife, Annette Davis of Nevada City, daughter, Chrissy (Jon) Patrick of Roseville, Calif. and granddaughter, Kinsley; son, Brian (Myrsa) Davis of Grass Valley, Calif. and grandchildren, Lilly, Jered, Mika, Kaleb and Nolan; mother and stepfather, Jean (Marvin) Sneesby of Whitewood, S.D.; sisters, Joddy (Peter) Tiemann of Reardon, Wash., Suzan (Clay) Smith of Grass Valley, Calif. and Jully Davis of S.D.; brother, Wesley Davis of Grass Valley, Calif.; Step-brothers and sisters, Brett, Richard, Kenneth and Brenda of S.D., Cheryl of Calif. and numerous nieces, nephews and his aunt, Helen Alden of Sturgis, S.D. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; his in-laws, Robert and Elizabeth Conner, grandparents and stepbrothers, Michael, and David. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to Hospice of the Foothills in Grass Valley Ca. Thank you for our families love and support. To Dr. Jeffery Frost, Dr. David Campbell, Dr. Richard Evans, the SNMH nurses and Hospitalists, thank you for your caring, professional care. Thank you to Dr. Kristen Ganjoo and her team at the Stanford Cancer Center for always having "options" and Hospice of The Foothills for making it "possible" at home. Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
