ISABELLE GERTRUDE HANNICH

Isabelle was born in Lancaster, California on August 7, 1968 and lived an amazing life, remembered by all who knew her as a strong, wise, and compassionate soul, always ready to listen, and always ready to help. She passed away quite suddenly from cancer on October 13, 2015. Isabelle, or “Isy” to her friends, spent her early childhood in Quartz Hill, California, where she grew up on a small farm and discovered early on her love for animals. She attended Quartz Hill High School, Antelope Valley College, and graduated magna cum laude with a BA in English and Writing from California State University, Northridge in 1992. A brilliant mind, she devoured great literature and excelled at writing poems and short stories. After school, Isabelle decided to utilize her writing ability as a Technical Writer, first at Teradyne, then as a Senior Technical Writer at Cisco Systems. Recently, she also embarked on an additional new business venture with her husband, Mike: a specialty guitar shop called Nor Cal Guitar Supply in Auburn, California. Isy met her husband Mike in high school. In their teens they loved exploring the deserts near their homes. As they became adults, they went on many outdoor adventures and frequently hiked into wild, remote locations and went off-roading in their jeep. She lived in several places after the Antelope Valley, including Northridge, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, and Grass Valley, California. Isabelle loved hiking, kayaking, and just being immersed in nature. She always had immense respect and love for all creatures she encountered, from deer to bears to ants. She found true joy in helping animals and birds in need, and her home always abounded with adopted cats, and her yard was always full of happy chickens. Isabelle is survived by her high-school sweetheart and husband of 17 years, Michael Brandon of Grass Valley; mother Kathryn and brother Arnold of the Antelope Valley; and sister Arleen of Cary, N.C. She is preceded in death by her father, Franz Hannich, Jr. Isy was an amazingly gifted and compassionate soul who leaves behind such a remarkable legacy of laughter, healing, friendship, and gratitude. Those who knew her will always remember she was quick to laugh, eager to listen, and ever able to think carefully and get to the heart of things.
