Drake T Palmer

The family of Drake Palmer is sad to announce that he passed away unexpectedly of natural causes. He was a loving husband and best friend to his wife of 44 years, Kathy Palmer, and the best dad to Cody and Alana Palmer. Drake is greatly missed by all who knew him. He grew up in Santa Rosa, CA with his mom, Gloria Palmer and 5 siblings. He and Kathy met and married there, then moved to Grass Valley where they enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, jet skiing and house boating. He was a wonderful example of fatherhood, playing with, teaching and spending time with his children. There are many fond memories of storytelling, pool time, go kart and quad riding, amusement parks, trips to the ocean and to visit his large family. He was the favorite “field trip Dad”, as chaperone for many school trips. Drake was a mentor and father figure to many young people, teaching them job and life skills, as well as being there for them when they needed a friend. Drake owned and operated two local businesses: DP Metal Fab and Drake Palmer Contracting. Drake was a master metal fabricator, a General Contractor, heavy equipment operator, mechanic, baker, and became an expert at anything he set his mind to. He jokingly called himself, “Mr. Knows-A-Lot”. Most recently, he used his knowledge and compassion in running estate sales, where he was known as The Tool Guy. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Kathy) Palmer, son Cody Palmer, daughter Alana Palmer and her fiance, David Liebman, sisters Christine Clendenning and Connie Harder, brother John Palmer, 15 nieces and nephews, and 30 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in departing this earth by his beloved Mom, Gloria Palmer, sister Cathy Farley, BIL Dwight Johnson, brother and best friend Wes Palmer, BIL Christopher Clendenning, niece Shawna Palmer, and father John Palmer, Sr. Drake was a family man; loving, supportive, fun and humorous. He described himself as generous to a fault, honest, hard working, creative and inventive. His family thanks all who have reached out with their condolences and ask that you help keep his memory alive by sharing a story about him, remembering his smile and sense of humor.
