GLYN BRIAN JONES

GLYN BRIAN JONES October 8, 1935 – November 1, 2015 Loving Husband, Father, Umpa, Uncle, Gentle Friend, Faithful Counselor Glyn Brian Jones made his final journey home to rest with the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at his rural home in Grass Valley, CA at the age of 80. Anyone who knew Brian knew his love of Christ and family, and his big heart for serving others. We will all feel a huge loss for this rare kind of man who always made everyone feel as if they were so important, and that there was no place he would rather be than where he was, with you, right now. We feel joy for the ease of his passing; Brian will be missed by all who will feel the void of his presence here on earth. We take comfort in knowing, without a shadow of doubt, that although he is absent in this life, he has been welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ. Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha & John Jones from Wales, his brother Doug and Sister Irene and his Brother-in-law Greg Elliott, who all passed too early in life. He is survived by his wife, Cherie Stevens-Jones and Grandsons Chris and Joe Stevens and step-son Michael Stevens; his daughters, Laurie Triano of Valley Springs, CA and Tracy Nino of Hollister, CA and their husbands Mike Triano and Mike Nino; his Grandchildren – Garrett Davlantis, Katie Nino, Sarah Nino and Brenden Nino; Nephews Kevyn Jones of Los Angeles, CA, Terry and Susan Jones, Sandra Marthaller, Janine MacMurchy all of Canada, Sister-in-law Joan Jones also from Canada; Sister-in-law Evangeline Roberts and In-laws Bill and Eleanor Pattison, Grandma Lynne Wapp, Brother-in-law John Elliott & wife Sheri, Sister-in-law Christina Elliott. Brian was born in Ft. William (now called Thunder Bay), Ontario, Canada to Bertha Wright Jones & John James Jones. Canada was where he spent most of his younger days, living an athletic life with a passion for hockey and curling. He and his first wife, mother of his daughters, Jan Jones, moved to Redwood City, CA in 1964, where Brian later received his Ph.D. in Psychology at Stanford University. He spent the rest of his life living his passion for helping others with that profession in various roles-- a counselor and mentor until his final days. Brian interwove his love of Jesus Christ into every aspect of his life and family, and always laid that as the foundation of all work. This included forming and running the Coalition of Christian Counseling Services with second wife, Linda Phillips-Jones. The final love of his life, Cherie Stevens-Jones, has helped continue to manage this Coalition for the past 7 years of their marriage. Brian left this earth in the arms of his biggest love, Cherie, who he deemed “a country woman who honors and adores 98% of me with a kindness, gentleness and passion that I never thought possible from anyone, and who treasures and radiates the love of Jesus Christ . . . “ A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, 1:00 pm at Twin Cities Church, 11726 Rough & Ready Hwy, Grass Valley CA 95945. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Twin Cities Church at the above address in Brian’s name.
